I've been taking periodic breaks with my blogging because with the ABSENCE of the creative process nothing worth while can be written. My ABSENCE has had a purpose. I've been rebuilding and re-branding myself which just might lead to the re-branding of my blog. But first things first.
Several months ago I wrote about my interest in joining Toastmasters [TM] International. Well I've done that, last November [2010] and as a member you are encouraged to give enough speeches to hit certain goals. After your first 10 speeches you are considered to be a competent communicator and the TM organization recognizes your achievements with awards, certificates and opportunities to enter local regional and national speech competitions. Goals that excite some and freak out others. The ABSENCE of such emotions do not motivate us to change. So the moral of this short post today is act - do something to eradicate the ABSENCE of such fear. With that information I'm gave my first speech several weeks ago and my second in a week. In the interim I'm giving evaluations [positive feed back with tips to improve].
More of my re-branding process:
1. I've launched my "green" event planning company.
2. I've completed my business plan - which is an ever expanding document
3. I'm setting up a non-profit organization for a friend.
4. I'm working closely with four, yes four "green" non-profit organizations helping them gain momentum in the areas or marketing, PR and endowments for growth and expansion. The sacred four organizations are [Planet Lunchroom, Valley Green Building Task Force, Green Business Networking and Burbank Green Alliance].
5. To keep food on the table and gas in the car I've been hired to organize data for a company audit.
6. I'm taking classes at my local Economic Development Corporation. There is a women's business center that offers all kinds of assistance for businesses owned and operated by women. They offer free certification classes. Certifications confirm your knowledge about an area of business and puts you into an elite marketing category.
7. I also received a scholarship from California State to attend classes to gain another type of professional certification.
I'm enjoying meeting new people and exercising my brain. But Whew... all of this activity has its challenges and are the reasons that have kept me from feeling creative enough to blog. I'm creating my own "green job."
That's the skinny for now so forgive my ABSENCE from you all. I do miss corresponding and reading your wonderful comments.

hi..You certainly deserve a round of applause for your post and more specifically, your blog in general. Very high quality material!
ReplyDeleteI hear you. Sometimes you need to just hit the breaks and revamp. It sounds like you are on the way up though. Hang in there and don't forget to drink some warm tea once in awhile. :o)
