Dark Chocolate
...well actually the answer is YES. Although milk chocolate is my favorite type, let the good news keep on coming.
Why is dark chocolate healthy? As I munch on my third piece for the evening, I thought I'd share some information with you.

Chocolate is made from plants, which means it contains many of the health benefits of dark vegetables. These benefits are from flavonoids, which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body from aging caused by free radicals, which can cause damage that leads to heart disease. Dark chocolate contains a large number of antioxidants (nearly 8 times the number found in strawberries). Flavonoids also help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide, and balance certain hormones in the body.
I haven't been a fan of dark chocolate for years because my palate registered it to my brain as bitter. In recent years, I have acquired a taste for it. Things that benefit us can't always be sweet now can it?
Happy Thursday to you. Have fun on your road to optimal health and wellness.
And they say that the really expensive stuff will satisfy your craving with the smallest bit of it. I'm not sure I believe that part of it though!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if I could adjust to the flavor because right now I really do find it to be non-delicious! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt is an acquired taste, for the most part. But, my kids love it!
