Every person in America should be outraged by what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico. The daily images we see courtesy of our news wires are sickening, the animal and plant life have been compromised and the efforts by BP truly seem uninspired. If [and at this point I don't know who that could possibly be] you're not outraged and you like to educate yourself on statistics, history and alternatives, I urge you to get your hands on a copy of the film Fuel by Josh Tickell. It comes to DVD on June 22nd.

I recently attended a wonderful networking event tailored for women in the sustainable movement. And was fortunate enough to carpool with Josh's wife, Rebecca Harrell Tickell who is quite a force in the 'green' world herself.
She is not only an accomplished actress and producer [she produced Fuel], she is a passionate environmental activist [she gave us a lesson on how the bus operates off solar energy and Bio fuel], author and now talented bus driver :-). Rebecca drove several of us to the event in her husband's much larger version of his famous veggie van in Los Angeles weekend traffic. And she did it in 6 inch heels.
You gotta love that! Anyway we who decided to carpool were fortunately each gifted a copy of the DVD as a thank you for choosing ride on a vehicle run off Bio fuel as opposed to crude oil. Decreasing, in effect, the CO2 emissions from our cars. Now, before I digress to talk all about the event [and you know how I digress] I'll just say that Fuel is a history of how Josh became so passionate about the gospel of Bio fuel, how our government resists this easy and cost affective solution, and how we can all make a difference by educating ourselves and by making lifestyle shifts. It is emotional at times, comical at others but mostly infuriating because we all have the answer.

What I love is how jazzed you are by 'green'! I wish you could bottle it and give it to every citizen of the world.
ReplyDeleteThe gulf coast boggles my mind. If there were people involved, everyone would have rushed to help out in some way. No people, no help. It really sucks.
you know I'm excited about hearing more on the new venture!!
ReplyDeleteLove your passion. And can't wait to hear about this new gig you are cooking up!
