Out on a Limb Day #3

So today was my third day of volunteering at radio station KPFK.  Yes the pledge drive is over [no more begging for money anticipating tax deductible financial donations] however, for many reasons, the morning hosts have no consistent help.  The host whose show airs at 7:00 am preps her show at 6:00 am, lining up guests, researching material and writing copy to read on air.  No wait I'm lying.  She lines up guests a day or two before the show airs.  How pissed off delighted would you be to receive a call [while getting out of the shower] from a radio talk show host saying that your conversation was going to air in five, four, three, two...and you're on!

So guests lined up before hand, yes.  But the copy [you see that's news lingo for a sheet detailing the news stories to be discussed] is always prepared the day of the show.  Well that was my volunteer gig today.  At 6:30 am I prepared copy, never having done it before.   And although it was a tad lengthy [we don't want to seem like we have little-to-no erudition] she used it, editing her dialog along the way.  The copy was a subject about which I was quite unfamiliar but the volunteer veteran that I am jumped into the deep end of the pool.  She even thanked me on air quite unexpectedly.
