"According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. It's wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway. Because bees don't care what humans think is impossible."
All children encourage me. When I watch them they are always in the moment with no thoughts about the past, the future or what they are able or not able to do. I think that is why babies climb onto things without apprehension. Bees [and children] don't care what humans [and parents] think is impossible. Children don't have a clue that they can't do something, they are perpetually in the moment of trying to achieve [doing something]. And let all of the mommy bloggers say AMEN.
Can't we all learn something from this simple life observation? Which leads me right into movie quote #2 from the film Chasing Amy [this film not appropriate for children at all],
"Do or do not, there is no try."
I love to sit and stare at toddlers. Boys are my favorite because they usually have no fear. Girls [with few exceptions] are prissier. I'm sure my lingering stare makes the parents uncomfortable sometimes but do I care? I'm observing through my thought process. My self talk goes something like this, "Look at little Joey crawling over to that chair. He's too short and unbalanced, but he's gonna go for it. Oops he fell and his little lip is quivering. He'll trick us with a peep of a cry and then back at it. Yes there he goes. If they can do it, so can I."
Meaning if a child can go through life just doing what they do, without doubt, even in the midst of a little pain or embarrassment, so can I. Kids just pick themselves up and keep it moving, runny nose, bloody lip, skinned knee, tears and all.
What things or people encourage you? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
My children encourage me...they make me toughen up a bit when I watch what they go thru, what flies in their faces and yet does not knock them down. Strong little buggers, they are! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs to you today,
Bina
AMEN! What a great perspective put into words!
ReplyDeletePeople who have the guts to just "go for it" are incredibly encouraging. I spend most my time talking myself out of doing things :-(
ReplyDeleteYOU encourage me because of your determination and attitude in the face of obstacles.

ReplyDeleteI guess that is part of the childlike (not childish) quality I wish to keep for myself. I think anything is possible...maybe not probable (oops, that's the nagging adult in me), but definitely possible.
ReplyDeleteA long time ago, someone said that when somebody tells me 'no you can't do that', what they mean is 'no, THEY can't do it.'
Can't is a disasterous frame of mind. I am thoroughly uplifted by your positivity!
