Le-e-e-t the sunshine in, le-e-e-t the sunshine in, the sun shine In!

Hello my bloggy friends.  It has been quite a while since I've written anything.  I've been wrapped up in ME land. I'll explain the details of that later. Although my confession is a bit self indulgent it is not without due cause.  While I'm still waiting for my license, [my fingerprints were lost by the state workers, so I must have them rescanned.  Breathe... but I won't get into my rant about the sad, pitiful condition of the bureaucratic menagerie of California State licensing departments.] I've made a decision to launch my own Eco event planning business, utilizing the wonderful contacts that I've made during my blogging hiatus.

In case your wondering what the heck an Eco event planning business is here is the definition of Eco by the urban dictionary: Eco describes a sub-social group of people who are passionate about the enviroment. Like any other social group Ecos are identified by their group behavior, clothing styles, and in some cases dogma or activism. Related sub-social groups are Hippies and New Agers.  Funny description right?  All my life I've loved all things vintage and resonated with hippies of all kinds now called new agers.  Rather than blankly labeling them as weired, I see them as conscious people who have spent significant amounts of time working on their respective causes.  From the local and global environment to animals slated for extinction to recycling glass and plastic instead of further polluting our landfills.  Hippies are the collective conscience of us all.  Without their movements and causes we would not know how dangerous it is to breathe in the toxins from burnt plastic we just toss away.  Our trash is either burned, piled in our landfills or tossed into our our oceans.  Anyway my Eco company will educate clients on how to 'green' their events and then coordinate those events not only for those in the green community but also for those who are leaning into becoming green thus reducing their carbon footprint.  We can all be sustainable on and under budget if we try, if we stay informed without compromising our personalities or personal styles.  JUST MAKE BETTER CHOICES.  Once I officially launch you all will be among the first to know.

To randomly quote one of my favorite movies Baby Boom, "I just want to turn on the faucet and know that water is coming out of it, I don't want to know where the water is coming from!"  Well we should all want to know where our trash goes when were done with our meal. Paper, plastic goods, food scraps, decorations, etc.

Did you know that napkins and paper towels take about 100 years to disintegrate in our land fills?  It's better to use cloth and wash them.  Or that the amount of livestock production responsible for greenhouse gas emissions is 18% which is more than the entire transport sector?  CO2 emissions are extremely harmful to our environment and by extension to our bodies.  We can learn to compost our scraps of food, grow our own food and our own herbs so that we can know where it's coming from and that no pesticides were used to preserve it.  Soon I'll recommend a few documentaries that you should watch to jump start you into becoming more 'green.'

Which brings us back to ME land.  Rather than concentrating on myself, wollowing in my world, I find it's better to help others through volunteering, reducing my income rate to help a cause, or assisting green organizations with their missions.  So for the month of May, ME stands for MEATLESS.  By giving up one day of being a carnivorous person per week I'm doing my part to cut down on the amount of green house gas emissions that affects our world.  There are two campaigns that I support:

1.

Sir Richard Branson [of the Virgin Empire] said it best,"I love eating meat, but I love our planet even more, so I will join this campaign and stop eating meat at least one day a week"

and...

2.
By supporting these causes I am decreasing my carbon footprint and increasing my health consciousness.  I love eating meat but I love my body more and I'd like to leave the planet in tact for the next generation.

Other than not eating meat every Monday in May, or by giving up meat all together for one month of the year. I can also share great vegetarian and vegan recipes, restaurants with you that I've indulged in recently and give personal health progress reports.  Won't that be fun?

So there you have it, it's good to be back.  I'm excited.

  1. I see that you are back to full speed and then some!!! I can sense that you are incredibly motivated and ready to take on some new challenges. And I'm going to give myself a little pat on the back since I am going meatless 7 days a week - who knew I was helping out a good cause :D and it's about time for me; I've not been quite as good about volunteering lately as you have....
