Wednesday's Oprah show featured organic food alternatives to unhealthy, processed foods with sugars and growth hormones. Oprah is simply confirming a shift in consciousness that has been happening for quite some time. Well today I'd like to highlight the Devaes family right here in California who have been living an organic life style since the 60's by growing their own food and using alternative energy fuel sources. They were brought to my attention via Karma Tube. Also, for no particular reason, I'd like to give a shout out to a bohemian community in a lovely area of Los Angeles called Topanga Canyon which is located behind Pacific Palisades and Brentwood whose residents I find are largely conscience. Being immersed into the health and wellness community as I am, I get to know where all of the hot [health] spots are located. Pasadena and Topanga are two of the hottest. So step away from the microwave, grab an apple, watch this video and consider finding a way to jump on the band wagon of health and proper nutrition. So support your local Farmers and health food markets. If you must go to the major franchise supermarkets hang on the perimeters and buy fresh produce. Try and I emphasize TRY to stay away from the center isles where you'll find canned, processed and packaged foods. It's tough for me too because I love peanut butter, boxed juices and cookies. It took me a long time to get this but I didn't have to give up taste or even junk food for health. Taste=the flavor of meat, bread, cheese, sugar. Junk food=burgers, hot dogs, pizza, fries, chips, dip. Experimenting on your own, investing in books that teach you how to make healthier choices and stalking foodie blogs while involving your family during the process can be educational and fun. Today, I plan to stalk one of my favorite foodie blogs to make a meal.
Jump in, as you can see from the photo above, there's plenty of room.
I live in an area which is ripe with local farmers and their produce. There are tons of co-ops to choose from too!!!!
