Well I'm back in blog land after several days of [pulling out my hair and pacing over] a rain storm in California that knocked out my land line/DSL. Needless to say it's been very frustrating.
A few days ago I was on the phone with AT&T's tech support for 4 hours and only today were they able to help me resolve my issue only after 10 minutes. A small fix, thanks to a techno nerd friend of mine helped me troubleshoot. They tried to charge me $179.00 for a home visit at first. I was so ready to throw my laptop through the window, I almost agreed to that insane charge. Now I cancelled the AT & T visit, got a refund, [most importantly] and am smooching up my techy friends whose over the phone troubleshooting acumen lead me back to the outside world [really of the utmost importance].
The difference between someone knowing what they are doing and someone who knows not so much is worlds. It is vital to me to know how to do something and WHY I am doing it so that no one ever talks about me like I'm an idiot. After these 5 days or so of no Internet I can troubleshoot my way back to civilization and am sure that I can now coach someone over the phone too. GRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr (loud to soft growling)!!!
Now later today I have some 'make up' blogging to do. I missed reading and communicating with all of you.

glad you are back in action!! AT&T is soooo frustrating to deal with. They tried to mess with me too - and I got a refund. Some of their business practices are highly questionable!!
ReplyDeleteYou've been missed! I'm glad you're back online again. I so wish I had the computer knowledge to fix things on my own!
ReplyDeleteHi Dale,
ReplyDeleteYou make me laugh! I can so relate to what you went through ... my laptop has come close to being thrown out of the window on numerous occasions!!
Sometimes you've just got to walk away or sleep on it and you can probably work out how to fix the problems yourself!!
Happy blogging!!
You know, Chef Stu and I had a kind of long term problem with Verizon DSL that we just fixed this past week. You know how we did it? We switched to Comcast. Like night and day.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you lived in California. My satellite kept going out. Can't wait for the next storm tomorrow!
